Oresia is a loose cannon weyr, meaning we have the original 5 colors plus a couple of extras. These mutations will show up in the first clutch, and the reason behind the mutations will be revealed as the main plot progresses. For now, just read up on the fancy new colors and enjoy. They are in rank order. I've tried to adapt this list to apply to fire-lizards as well.
Golds
Golds are the queens of the sky. They are the ones to whom all other dragons bow, the clutch mothers. Golds are the largest of the dragons, and their hides can range from dark to light, though always golden-yellow with a metallic sheen.
Golds are often bossy and vain, using their iron will to control the rest of the weyr. Those who Impress them become Weyrwomen and are responsible for making sure the Weyr runs smoothly.
Golds can lay clutches anywhere from around 10-40 eggs, depending on their age, health, and what color flew them. Golds cannot chew firestone. Instead, their riders fight thread with flamethrowers.
Bronze
Bronzes are the kings. They are bold, daring, and controlling, and can fly any of the other colors, though they often choose those higher in rank. They are the largest of the males, their hides ranging from a dark bronze to a light, but always with a metallic sheen. They are the most enduring of the dragons, and lead the fight against Threadfall.
Silver
Silvers are the second to largest female, about the same size as bronzes. Though they do not rise as often as golds, silvers would still be considered 'royalty'. Their hides can range anywhere from a dark steel to a shimmering sterling, though always with a metallic sheen.
Silvers are the more docile of the queens. They command more with charisma and patience, rather than the brute force of a gold. They tend to be friendlier and more forgiving, though they are just as vain. Their clutches can be anywhere from 8-36 eggs, depending on their age, health, and what color flew them. Silvers cannot chew firestone. Instead, their riders fight thread with flamethrowers.
Amber
Ambers are much like the silvers in rank. They are smaller than the bronzes, yet larger than the browns. Their hides can be any shade between dark copper and light orange, though always with a metallic sheen. They can fly any other color, though silvers and reds most often.
Ambers are shy creatures, using their wits more than physical strength. They tend to be the smartest of the males, and will pick up on other creature’s feelings quicker than the other dragons. They are strong, and are often paired with bronzes and browns when fighting thread.
Brown
Browns are not much lower than Ambers. Not quite as big, they are more agile. Browns hides can range anywhere between dark oak and light tan, with hints of orange or red mixed in. They can fly any of the colors, though Silvers are a bit of a stretch, and it would take a very fast brown to catch a gold.
Browns are the most companionable of dragons. They like to be around others, not just to be admired but to just hang around. They are friendly and charming, and are the most reliable for messengers.
Red
Reds are the middle class of female. They are usually a bit larger than greens, and their hides can range any where from blood red to a faded pink, with hints of brown and purple mixed in.
Reds are often very reliable and make good messengers. They can clutch, though it would be small, only around 3-15 eggs, with mostly lower ranked hatchlings depending on her age, health, and what color flew her, though when flown by a bronze or copper there is a slight chance of a silver hatchling. Reds are very agile, and often fly Thread closer to the ground.
Green
Greens are the second to smallest female, with little strength but great maneuverability and speed. Their hide can range anywhere from dark jade to lime, with hints of blue and black mixed in. Greens are usually all vain in some form of another, and tend to find ways to amuse themselves when bored. Greens can produce clutches, though they are only around 2-12 with lower ranking colors, and many eggs will be underdeveloped and may not hatch at all. Of course, this all depends on her age, health, and what color flew her.
Black
Blacks are about average of the males. They are larger than blues, and have more strength, though they often have longer proportions than many of the other dragons, giving them more maneuverability.
Blacks can fly Reds, Greens, and purples, and a silver on a very rare occasion, though never a gold.
Blacks are usually rather clingy to their rider, preferring to hang around and be bored, rather than wander off on an adventure, making them great tag-alongs. Their hides can range anywhere from solid obsidian to a faded dark grey, with hints of blue, purple, green, and red mixed in.
Blue
Blues are the second to smallest males. They are very agile and compact, giving them pinpoint accuracy. Their hides can range anywhere from a dark midnight to a light sky, with hints of green, black, and purple mixed in.
Blues tend to be quite curious, getting into trouble often and making discoveries. Despite their small size, they have lots of energy, giving them the drive to keep on exploring.
Blues can fly Greens and purples, and on occasion reds, very rarely silvers, but never a gold.
Purple
Purples are the smallest females, and will usually only appear in a red's clutch, though there have been cases where it appeared in silver's and gold's. They are very small, with lithe, long bodies. Their hides can range anywhere from a dark plum to a light lilac, with hints of blue and black mixed in.
Purples tend to be the shy, quite type, the kind who stick to their riders. They tend to sleep a lot, though they are known for being extremely loyal.
Purples can fly, though if they clutch there will only be 1-6 eggs, with only 1 or 2 surviving, and never a higher rank than a red.
White
Whites are the smallest of the males. They are short and compact, as well as very small. Their hides can range from a light greyish to pure white, with any color mixed in, though never a metallic sheen.
Whites tend to be the most anit-social of dragons, preferring to sit by themselves and contemplate life, rather than explore or eat. They tend to sleep a lot, and are claimed to be the most devout of all dragons. If they fly, they can catch a purple or green, though never a red, silver, or gold. However, whites are very rare as they are only found in purple and green clutches that are sired by a king.
