Most Weyrs don't have females other than Queens (Golds/Silvers) clutching. Is there any reason yours does? I would just think we'd end up with too many eggs and not enough players with something like that going on. And with greens, purples, reds only laying lower ranked eggs, you'll be getting some people to potentially refuse to stand at that particular hatching because there isn't a chance at *insert color here* dragon. Especially with a green's hatching, no males can stand at them.
Take in mind that I made a Candidate and would like to Roleplay here. This isn't a bashing of your Weyr, but a legitimate question I have. I'm told I can be offensive when I'm truly not trying to be. ^.^;

I know this question is directed at me, but as someone who thinks she is fairly experienced in DRoP forums there are simple answers to your questions.
I don't think you have been to a non-canon weyr before, as many weyrs including canon ones allow clutching greens. I highly doubt this weyr will have a clutch for every female dragon, as many roleplayers never feel the need to clutch nor feel the drive to finish a whole profile for each egg.
The lower colors include males as well, so I don't see why a male cannot stand? Keep in mind some males are not heterosexual and so it wouldn't matter either way. Some females are not heterosexual for the matter either. Not everyone wants a higher ranked dragon, some of us even acknowledge the fact that some characters do not deserve a king or a queen.
In any case I have never met anyone on an offsite weyr refusing to stand at a hatching. Personally I feel that they should be grateful that they are allowed to stand period, as a hatching takes a S*** load of effort to accomplish.
Either way this is just from my own experience and opinions. :]

Mmm, I perhaps wasn't thinking so much about the black, white, or blue dragons when I said no male could stand at a green's clutch. I just thought the straight male's choices would be limited.
Most of my RP experience is with Canon weyrs. To tell the truth I haven't found a non-canon that I was comfortable joining yet, so this'll be a treat.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to this post. I'm still interested to hear others points if they'll speak it.

The clutch sizes described for each of the different colors is mostly aimed at fire-lizards. As the mutation gene affects all dragon kin (if we add watch-whers, they'd be affected too) I tried to make the descriptions applicable to both dragons and flits. I don't know how many of you have read DragonsDawn? The idea that chewing firestone makes female dragons infertile is a myth, caused by a loss of knowledge through the ages. When Kitti-Ping genetically engineered the dragons, she tweaked the DNA so that Golds physically could not belch flame, and greens could not produce eggs. While I hadn't really thought it through until you asked your question, I think this would apply to our dragons as well. Only silver and gold dragons will clutch (unless we want to make some funky plot involving a lower rank color). But having small clutches allows members to find/lay small fire-lizard nests as good practice for setting up hatchings, without the headache of trying to set up distinct personalities and characteristics for a larger clutch. I hope that makes sense.
